Reinforcement & Stabilisation
Geosynthetics provide many benefits over traditional construction techniques where soils, sub-bases, sub-grades, foundations, slopes and trafficked surfaces are constructed. By reducing traditional stone construction layers the use of geogrids, geocells and geotextiles have become the engineered, environmental and cost-effective solution for such civil engineering projects.
ABG has an extensive range of geosynthetics used in reinforcement and stabilisation applications including surface reinforcement, slope stabilisation, asphalt reinforcement and sub-base stabilisation.
ABG's technical team are able to provide technical support for all applications ensuring that the correct product solution is supplied.
Typical Applications:
- Asphalt reinforcement for highways and roads
- Soil stabilisation
- Ground stabilisation
- Basal reinforcement
- Roadway sub-base reinforcement
- Steep slope stabilisation
- Tree root protection
- Reinforcement for car parks and access roads
Benefits:
- Reduces the depth of the sub-base
- Strengthens sub-base construction
- Cost-effective alternative to stone
- Reduction is stone transportation costs
- Geotextiles provide filtration & separation functions
- Geogrids help reduced sub-base thickness
- Geocells reinforce slopes and embankments
- Strengthen weak soils in horizontal applications
Typical Client Profile:
- Highway Engineers
- Civil engineering contractors
- Landscape Architects
- Rail engineers
- Local Authorities
- Parks and Private Estates
ABG supply a range of geosynthetic product solutions that provide reinforcement and stabilisation for soils, slopes and sub-bases:
Geogrids
Abgrid biaxial geogrid is used in a range of civil engineering applications such ground reinforcement, sub-base aggregate reduction, basal reinforcement, paved and unpaved road foundations, permeable paving construction, retaining walls and steep-sided soil embankments.

ABG's asphalt reinforcement systems including Fortifix® and Rotaflex are commonly used to reinforce road surfaces that are prone to reflective cracking:
Fortifix® steel grid asphalt reinforcement system is an anti-reflective cracking interlayer with advanced steel cord structure laminated on a geotextile layer to provide optimal reinforcement for road surfaces.

Rotagrid is a self-adhesive glass fibre geogrid pavement reinforcement system designed to prolong the life of asphalt pavement structures

Geotextiles
Terrex NW geotextiles provide ground stabilisation by separating angular stone layers within a constructed sub-base. By allowing water to percolate through, sub-bases are stabilised as the intermixing of different construction layers and sub-grades is stopped. Gridtex is a high performance woven geotextile engineered for reinforcement applications and is ideal for strengthening a wide range of soils.

Geocells
Webwall is a three dimensional cellular matrix that confines soil and fill material for steep retaining walls. Erosaweb controls erosion on slopes by confining fill material within the cells. Abweb geocell is designed to reinforce weak soils in horizontal applications such as car parking areas and access roads used for traffic. Abweb TRP geocell protects tree roots where a pavement or road is to be constructed without damaging nearby trees.

Permeable Paving Surfaces
Sudspave porous plastic pavers provide a reinforced gravel or grass surface intended for traffic applications. Suitable for car parks, access roads, driveways and paths. For heavier load-bearing applications including HGV access, crane hardstandings, Truckcell permeable plastic paving blocks should be considered.

Reinforced Grass Surfaces
Advanded Turf is a system that uses plastic mesh elements mixed with a specially selected rootzone to reinforced grass used for occasional traffic, landscaped areas and amenity areas
