GLASS FIBRE GRID / POLYESTER GEOTEXTILE COMPOSITE

Rotaflex Performance

Rotaflex glass fibre grids are widely used in asphalt reinforcement. High tensile strength and low strain ensure excellent reinforcement. The grids are dimensionally stable and bonded at the nodes with the thick protective polymer coating. The aperture size has been optimised to be compatible with the tensile strength of the grid. The higher the performance the larger the aperture to prevent delamination. The polyester textile absorbs bitumen during installation to create a waterproof layer with excellent bond and stress absorption. Rotaflex will continue to hold the surfacing together and waterproof even after the pavement has exceeded its design life

Rutting
Rotaflex is used in conjunction with a modified bitumen bond coat to prevent and reduce rutting in pavements subject to intense wheel loading and high ambient temperatures (e.g. bus lanes, approaches to cross roads, traffic lights and car parks).

Lean concrete roadbase
This is perhaps the most frequent problem faced by Highway Engineers. The Rotaflex glass fibre grid is used in resurfacing of roads with a lean concrete base. Rotaflex is laid below the new asphalt overlay to provide crack control, reinforcement and waterproofing.

Economical resurfacing
The increased overlay life using Rotaflex can save one or more future overlays. This saves time, disruption and 75% of long term cost over a 20 year period. Alternatively, short term savings can be made by reduced overlay thickness and avoidance of kerb raising and threshold problems.
