Erosamat Type 2.

BIODEGRADABLE MAT

Erosamat Type 2 is a heavy duty, long life coir biodegradable erosion mat. There are six grades in the range from 600 to 1400 g/m². Erosamat Type 2 prevents soil erosion and helps establish new vegetation on areas of loose soil and in situations of high run-off, high water velocity and flooding. The mats may be laid onto the seeded ground or reeds etc. can be planted through the mat.

Erosamat Type 2 is ideal for use where plant development could be slow e.g. late season planting or poor fertility soil. The mats are also suited to extremes of temperature, enabling them to be used to control erosion in conditions from tundra to desert and everything between.

Coir is a 100% biodegradable natural product from the sustainable resources of the coconut husk. Coir is one of nature’s strongest fibres and will maintain its tensile strength even under water. It is also highly UV resistant.

In the manufacture of Erosamat Type 2 the highest percentage of best quality Anjengo yarn is used. This has the best content of Lignin and is resistant to mould and rot. Coir biodegrades very slowly over a 5-10 year period and provides plenty of time for plants to establish, even on very poor soils. The products of decomposition form plant nutrients.

Erosamat Type 2 consists of woven mats of coir yarn that effectively reduce the exposure of the soil surface to rainfall, wind and water. The tight weave of the mats will protect the soil until vegetation is established.

Erosamat Type 2 is a natural golden brown colour which blends in with the surrounding environment. Coir fibres swell when wet and then retain moisture to create an excellent microclimate for plant growth. Erosamat Type 2 is often used below water and at the water line of rivers and channels.
